Typically if you see unusual camera angles, consider if there’s a purpose behind it. This film doesn’t have many of such shots, and this shot was intentional from the initial screenplay, so you could use it if you want I guess.

Tying into the previous scene, you could argue that the shot with Max’s gloves in the foreground, making it proportionally larger than everything else, diminishes Gillis’ stature in the background, accentuating his increasing entrapment under Norma’s web of control.
